EBSCO Reads & Listens Collection
EBSCO Information Services has numerous teams staffed by a wide variety of individuals and personalities working to provide access to world-class research tools. We would like to introduce you to some of these teams and as a librarian focused organization what better way to get to know someone then by what they read. This new collection will focus each month on a different team from EBSCO and capture personal book recommendations and reviews from those teams’ members. This month EBSCO Reads team focus is on the eBook Collection Development Team.
The eBook Collection Development team is a mix of librarians and data analysts who curate EBSCO eBooks and audiobook holdings. This includes seeking out new publishers and facilitating title requests, weeding of unreliable titles, publishers and data, and assuring the discoverability of the best, most reputable content through the use of perpetual purchase collections, subscriptions and other customer facing products and messaging, including GOBI. In addition to those responsibilities it means we are the Swiss Army knife of the book program. If you need someone to become a subject matter expert on petroleum engineering, that is us. Need help figuring out e-book access models, we have a deck for that. MARC record trouble, we have a cataloging specialist ready to step in. Need a way to consolidate and streamline data for 1,200+ contract publishers? We can do that. Like many librarians we are multitasking experts but we view our most important role as actively representing the voice of the EBSCO customer as experienced librarians.
